Feeding of castrate cats

Persians castartes

After castration (sterilization) of cats their hormonal background changes, and they start to be interested more in meal, and less opposite floor. These both factors: both the increased interest to meal, and the reduced interest to sex - result the owner of a castrated animal in the decision of a problem "TO NOT OVERFEED". An output(exit): if you see, that your animal types(collects) weight it is necessary or to reduce quantity(amount) of a forage, or to transfer(translate) it(him) to low-calorie forages. Play with the smoke is more often, drive it(him) behind a ball, a toy mousy, behind a beam laser pointer, play with it(him) in hide-and-seek, in football and even in blind man's buff. Every day! Let for 10-15 minutes, but not less than 3 times day.

Popular belief, that castrated cats are inclined to urolithic illness, rather disputably. In my opinion, the problem arises not because of castration, and because of completeness (adiposity) of such animals.

However, many, almost all veterinaries I strongly recommend to adhere to two rules for feeding castrated animals:

Rule 1.

Watch(Keep up) the maintenance(contents) of mineral substances in a forage: the raised(increased) maintenance(contents) of magnesium and phosphorus leads to formation(education) of stones.

For those who feeds the animals with professional forages. Use forages of class "Premiym" or "Syper-Premiym" known firms Purina, Iams, Hill's, having long-term experience in development of the cat's forages. Remember, that it is better to pay more for such feed(meal), than then for treatment. There is enough frequently when you ask in shop a forage for a castrated cat, to you can offer a dietary forage for treatment of urolithic illness (for example, Whiskas low pH control or Royal Canin Felistar S10). Application of such forage for healthy (and not was ill earlier) an animal is not proved at all.

For those who feeds the animals with a natural forage: completely exclude a fish from a diet of the favourite (because of the raised(increased) maintenance(contents) of phosphorus and magnesium).

Rule 2.

Water should be used by an animal in enough. This rule is especially important at feeding by dry forages. The castrated cat should drink waters in 3 times more, than it(he) eats a dry forage. If the cat does not drink such quantity(amount) of water, translate it(him) on other type of feeding.
